As a lawyer, journalist, and novelist, I have worked in communications and advocacy during my entire career. As a journalist, I investigated New York politicians, Wall Street banks, and rating agencies, and extensively covered the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath from Ground Zero.
I have experience practicing in State and Federal Courts, and all levels of Appellate Courts, where I have successfully prosecuted numerous cases in the areas of civil litigation, corporate litigation, medical device defects, criminal law and civil rights litigation. My experience has included representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of cases.
I graduated cum laude from Campbell Law School and was chief publications editor for the Law Review. I clerked for the North Carolina Court of Appeals and have extensive experience practicing Appellate Law, having done approximately 200 appeals. I have argued before the North Carolina Supreme Court on five occasions.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, I worked as a reporter for a daily newspaper with a national circulation, covering New York City politics and Wall Street. I am also the author of two novels — Bull City Blues and The Counterfeit Girl.
